Kinja'd!!!

Im trying to figure out what parts I need to replace my door and I'm wondering if I have any wires in my door. I have manual windows, locks and mirrors. The only thing I can think of that would need power in the door is the defroster and the speakers. How would the speakers be hooked up? Is there a connector or would I need to solder?

Remove the door, see what you need, then proceed accordingly. That's what I'd do.

Try and pull the dent out. You might end up not having to replace the door.

You're just replacing a door skin, so you might be able to keep all the wires/panels/switches in your original door and just change the sheet metal. I don't think there should be anything wire/soldered to the skin itself.

But theres paint damage. It would be easier to replace the door than to pull the dent and fix the paint

Wait a sec, I dont have to replace the whole door? I can replace the skin without welding?

My bad. I didn't mean the skin, I meant getting a new door and just attaching your current door's panels/speaker/switches to it. It doesn't look like you have too many things (e.g. power windows) to make the job too complicated.

This is why I shouldn't ever skip coffee.

I would try pulling out the dent and it looks like there is paint transfer from the school bus you hit. You might be able to just get the school bus paint off with polish or clay bar or something.

It will almost always unplug, usually in the kick panel, but not sure on the Ranger. If it's manual windows and mirrors, probably the only wires would be for the speaker and a light if it has one...Defrost would be through a duct that seals when it shuts, not wires. Look in the door jamb for a harness going from the door to the body, pull off the kick panel in the cab and see if you can find the other end.

It might not really be that much to fix it, swing by a local bodyshop and ask how much for a cash job fix.

There shouldn't be any defroster electrical things in the door. The connector for the speakers should be either in the kick panel area or in the door itself, no soldering necessary. Be careful when you reinstall the door, where it bolts up is where door gap adjustments are made. You could easily damage the new door and further things if you're not careful. Put masking tape on ask of the paintededges that could be damaged. Make small scribe/sharpie/ paints marks around the Colts and mounting plate of the site hinge on the A-pillar so you can make a solid guess about where the new door needs to be mounted.

Things you need to replace your door:

Damn.

You got her right on a body line. If it weren't winter I'd say it's a good time to learn bodywork.

Wear it as a battle scar for a while.

I was thinking that and then I Started thinking about how the door connected to the truck and realized I would probably have to replace the pins and bushings, then I started thinking about wiring and drew a blank to if I needed to Do any wiring at all

That is damn lucky.

It is probably best to just swap doors. But if you want to learn panel beating a door is a good place to start. You wouldn't believe how streched that door skin actually is now.

(I'm guessing Snow, a Parking lot and a Bollard are involved.)

I was backing out of a parking spot in an old part of Denver, for some reason there was a fire hydrant there. It was in my blind spot and below my beltline. My mirrors don't adjust down, I knew it was there but I couldn't see it. That last part makes it worse. I actually do want to learn bodywork, but not on my truck. I think what I'll do is replace the door and keep the old door so I'll work on that off the truck when I have time

Personally, I'd rather align a used door than pound out a dinged one. The junkyard might want the old one as a Core though. They get picky with scrap metal sometimes.

I've read that Murilee Martin haunts the U Pull It yards in your parts. You might get lucky.

From the pictures Ive seen of him, he looks like a clown. If I meet him, we'll probably get along great. I also texted demuro regarding murilee, he'll probably respond in the morning. I was hoping doug could put in a good word for me. Also, what kind of bribes are we talking here?

If you get a replacement door, it's most likely not going to be the same color as the rest of the doors. The paint is probably going to be either richer, or more faded. I suggest that you just try to pull the dent out, go with a bondo special and repaint that specific area.

I'd try pulling the door panel and pushing the dent out from behind. Then get some rubbing compound/polish and try to get the yellow paint off.

If you get a new door you'll probably have to get it paint matched. You also won't have those detail lines across the top.

There's a socket on the door a plug coming from the door frame. No soldering necessary. The only thing that is a bitch is aligning the new door. And being a Ford, you shouldn't even need to replace the lock tumbler.
